You'll have a blast; no pun intended. In fact, I'll bet you'll consider this hike one of your favorite LBxing treks. If you don't live nearby, fill-up your gas tank; it's worth the trip.

Mine Hill Preserve
Roxbury, CT
3 Letterboxes

Easy to Moderate 3.5 mile loop

Explore Connecticut's most extensive ruins of a blast furnace, roasting ovens and quarries at Mine Hill Preserve which was intermittently mined at various times since before Revolutionary days; now listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Walk along an elevated donkey trail that was once used to haul raw ore from the mines to the smelting furnaces. Along the way, you will pass mine shafts, tunnels, and quarries that provided granite used in the construction of New York's Brooklyn Bridge and Grand Central Station Terminal.

A posted trail map to follow soon but you can get by with just the directionsClick Here and go to our Clues Page  for more information.

Enjoy!
